10 second read: Alleviation of humble khichdi and daliya to superb levels. Positively not food for the sick, as is the popular adage! This preparation is amazingly nutritious too.

Final preparation 

a) Take a heavy pressure cooker. Add the ghee and add the jeera and hing. Once it crackles add the chilly, haldi, ginger, daliya, daal, salt and tomatoes and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes.

b) Add water and mix again. Put the lid and cook till 3 to 4 whistles.

c) Serve hot with curd.

Chef's tip

Simply add vegetables to make a meal of it and fill your tummy to the fullest.

100 gms (soaked for ½ an hour and drained) Daliya (broken wheat)
100 gms (soaked for an hour and drained) Moong daal
½ tsp Haldi
A pinch Hing
1 tbsp Ghee
1 tsp Jeera
1 nos (chopped) Green chilly
½ inch piece (chopped) Ginger
To taste Salt
1nos (chopped) Tomato
350 ml Water
